I Was Right To Be Worried About My Sore Throat

I was just having the nicest pa!n-k!ller-induced dream that I was visiting Saly! (Well, it was nice besides the fact that in-my-dream-Ed looked SUSPICIOUSLY like someone I know in regular life who is of...questionable character *side eye to Ed*.) Conveniently, it turns out that Saly lives (in dreamland) just up the street from a long-time friend, so it's strange to think that I hadn't visited before now. She invited me to stay for dinner, which was so kind of her, considering I haven't eaten for quite some time now, thanks to this horrid sore throat. Saly's children were quirky, yet well-mannered, and dinner was delicious.
*******
When I went to Urgent Care because the pain in my throat was so intense that I could no longer speak or swallow spit *shudder*flashbacks*shudder*, I did not think to ask the doctor for anything for the pain. I thought that once I got the magical shot of antibiotics in my "hip", life would dramatically improve....um, not so much. HOPEFULLY I WILL NEVER MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN. I was very, VERY lucky that I had some pa!n medicine left over from a root canal. I take a pill while trying not to gag or scream from the pain, and about an hour later it kicks in and dulls the pain enough that I can quickly try to drink some water to try to stay hydrated. Shortly after that, I start feeling queasy (medicine on an empty stomach?) and the medicine knocks me out for a couple hours.  By the time I wake up, the happy benefits have worn off and I have to wait a couple hours until it's time to choke down another pill.

I had the feeling, a few hours ago, that the tide had turned; that my body was no longer using all of its strength to not be overcome by the sickness but that it was starting to actually fight the sickness back and that soon I will reach the happy stage of being able to make my throat feel better with lovely things like POPSICLES and ICE CREAM and OH-I-AM-SO-VERY-HUNGRY. Hopefully this feeling was not in any way related to the pa!n k!llers.

And now I think I'd better stagger back to bed because I'm not feeling so good.
